Friends of Oxon Run Park
Addressing the needs of conservation of natural resources and preservation of green space in Ward 8
Who we are
We want to create an urban oasis in Oxon Run Park that re-ignites the spirit of its citizens as we re-imagine a new future. Our goal is to enhance the community’s mental and physical well-being through trails, tree plantings, amphitheater performances, exercise and outdoor learning.
What we do
Oxon Run Park is the largest park in DPR’s inventory in the District of Columbia. Friends of Oxon Run partner’s with DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) and DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) to establish partnerships with local schools, organizations, churches, police cadets and others to enhance Oxon Run Park.
Get involved
We invite you to get involved as a vision keeper. We need neighbors and volunteers to participate in activities (e.g., outdoor learning, bird watching, nature walks, biking, trails, sports) and volunteer projects to build up the park and keep this beautiful gem shining brightly in the heart of this community.
