Floodplain Initiative
On April 13, 2022, the DC Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), in collaboration with Friends of Oxon Run Park, held a virtual focus group on flooding issues near the Oxon Run stream in Ward 8.
The focus group was led by DOEE’s Flood Risk Management Program and Urban Sustainability Administration, with the following objectives:
Inform households living in the areas near Oxon Run stream about the floodplain, potential risks, and related flooding policies (including food insurance).
Collect input from residents that will inform short- and long-term strategies for DOEE’s Flood Risk Management Program to engage and support households living in Oxon Run floodplain.
