Stream Restoration

The data collection team will be collecting a large amount of important information over the next couple of months, and recently completed the “Macroinvertebrate Sampling.” Freshwater Macroinvertebrates include crustaceans, worms and young/immature bugs that live in Oxon Run. They are an important part of the food chain. The Macroinvertebrate Sampling is important for a potential restoration project because they are a reliable indicator of stream health and quality. In our initial sampling event, we documented the presence of crayfish, damselflies, and caddisflies, and incidentally caught creek chubs, a green sunfish and a young American Eel at the downstream end of our sampling site!
